ABHAY ASHTEKAR TO GET THE EINSTEIN PRIZE ON 23 OCTOBER
ABHAY ASHTEKAR won the prestigious Einstein prize and is to be awarded on 23rd of October and received by the APS American Physical Society.
As its prize says with a citation” For numerous and seminal contributions to general relativity, including the theory of black holes, canonical quantum gravity, and quantum cosmology.” And with an award money of 10,000 dollars this prize will be awarded with a lot of appreciation to him from all over the world.
ABHAY ASHTEKAR is a professor of physics and the Director of the institute of Gravitation and the cosmos at University of Pennsylvania.
This prize is the highest and most top ranked prize which is won by Abhay Ashtekar as given by APS society in the area of that particular field.
The First Einstein Prize was given jointly to Peter Bergmann and John wheeler, who introduced general relativity to American Universities by creating research groups.
Since high school his passion towards physics and nature has won him this prize as it’s been over 40 years for now that he has dedicated towards physics and which is definitely an achievement in itself.
And definitely it will be a proud moment for India as he is an Indian and winning awards of such high achievement could definitely make and set a bench mark for the people and upcoming youth.
Or we can say that this could be another symbol of achievement for a person who definitely deserved it.
ABHAY ASHTEKAR received his Ph.D. in 1974 from the University of Chicago and then he went to various places like France, Canada and India to explore more. He has his own biography which got him elected in the National Academy of Sciences.
As he was asked about the future of Physicists in India and he gave a response that there are very talented and hardworking people who will definitely discover new things in this field, like the LIGO-India, a PUNE based project which makes India ahead of many countries in International Network of gravitational wave observations.
