LIQUID THAT CAN STORE SOLAR ENERGY FOR MORE THAN 10
Scientists from SWEDEN have made a specialized fluid, known as solar thermal fuel that has been told to store solar energy captured from the sun for more than years.
Well it looks like scientists are about to take a giant leap toward future and we might have an answer for saving energy and uses renewable sources. This will affect our world and could make a revolution as fossil fuels will no longer be in use as we all know; they are going to wash out soon.
We might have the answer for storing solar energy for longer periods now with the help of this thermal fluid liquid.
LIKE A BATTERY
“A solar thermal fuel is like a rechargeable battery, but instead of electricity, you put sunlight in and get heat out, triggered on demand,” Jeffrey Grossman, an engineer works with these materials at MIT told news.
HOW IT WORKS?
The solar thermal fuel when light of sun is struck on the bonds of the fluid’s atoms, atoms are rearranged and become an isomer as they get charged and traps energy of photons and become more stronger chemical bonds after becoming an isomer. Well then after the molecules cool down, with the help of a catalyst they could be formed to generate and release the trapped energy in the form of heat.
The energy can be stored up to 18 years due to stronger bonds the half-life could be very large of the atoms which helps in its molecules to trap energy for this long, all the way which is better for us only.
Solar thermal fuel could not only be a breakthrough for our energy saving field but could help industries, homes, factories, buildings and as well as skyscrapers in making energy more efficiently as well as both faster and could be stored for much longer period as in case of emergency and daily use as well.
