EHT EVENT HORIZON TELESCOPE EXPLAINED IN DETAIL , NSF NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION

WHAT IS EHT?

EHT Event Horizon Telescope, this is the telescope used to capture the first ever image of the black hole and created history. The black hole in the M87 galaxy was 300 million trillion miles away from our planet and is the size of our galaxy.

EHT is not actually any telescope but a collaboration of 8 telescopes across the globe which made the earth itself a giant telescope to capture the black hole image. This is called EHT Event Horizon Telescope.

8 TELESCOPES ACROSS GLOBE

HOW DID EHT GET ITS NAME

As told by NY mag the telescope was named after the point of no return in a black hole, its job was to see what has been until now unseeable: an exquisitely small, dark circle of nothing, a tiny shadow in the glow of radiation at the center of the Milky Way galaxy.Truly this is an unforgettable event the thing we thought from where light could not even escape and even the time stops in it that thing could actually be seen.

SEEMLESS EFFORT

A team of 200 Scientists that took courage and lifeless effort to put all the things together to capture this beauty of the universe well also to be known it took 5 petabytes of storage to store the information of the black hole which was spread across germany, US , bonn and other parts of the world to assemble them properly by highly specialised supercomputers hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomyand MIT Haystack Observatory.
